Where Rachel Stands on the Issues

Development in Leawood
Rachel will be a voice on the City Council to hold the developer of East Village accountable for promises made during the rezoning process. She wants to ensure that the 135th Street Corridor is completed with only the highest quality developments that incorporate distinctive architectural elements, abundant landscaping and space for nourishing a sense of community. Based on survey results, Leawood residents crave additional upscale housing options for villa-style living. Prior to approving any new developments, the City should take into account existing flood plains, water pooling and drainage for residents downstream.

Proven Leadership on Traffic Safety
Under Rachel's determined leadership, the City approved traffic calming measures on 132nd Street & High Drive, for only the 2nd time in 23 years. To achieve this, she worked tirelessly with neighbors and public works department staff for four years to install six speed tables in accordance with the City’s 2002 traffic calming policy. This process has required determination, hundreds of hours of work and dedication, which are traits Rachel will use on behalf of Ward 3 residents.
Traffic safety isn't optional, it's essential. Traffic calming solutions are now in demand on residential streets in Leawood, based in large part on the proven effectiveness of traffic calming on 132nd Street & High Drive. The City’s own 2024 resident survey showed that speeding is the #1 resident complaint in Leawood and the top reason for citations by the Leawood Police Department.

A Trusted Voice at City Hall
Rachel is the only candidate with hands-on experience navigating city plans, policies, and procedures—and knowing how City Hall works matters. With numerous appearances before the Planning Commission and City Council, Rachel has already been advocating for you—and she's ready to do more.
In the race for Ward 3, Rachel is the only candidate that is an expert on the City of Leawood, has served on a city committee and has worked tirelessly on a traffic calming project. Ward 3 deserves public servants on the City Council who are experts on City operations and have developed relationships with city staff, volunteers, council members and residents.

Aligned with Our Shared Vision
Rachel is excited about the City’s 2025-2029 Strategic Plan, recently adopted by the City Council. She will work to turn our shared goals into concrete accomplishments with action items and deadlines for implementation.

Relationships That Get Results
Collaboration drives progress. Rachel has invested time and heart over the past four years into building strong relationships with neighbors, City staff and council members. She's committed to being a voice for Leawood—to ensure that the City is the best version of itself, with the experience to back it up.
We are better together, and our community is stronger.
